We offer you a glimpse at what it means to have a loved one incarcerated in Canada today. What are the material and social consequences for the families? What challenges do they face?
Through research approved by the University of Ottawa’s ethics committee, we had the privilege of meeting with 41 persons who wished to share their experiences. Based on these testimonies, our research report invites you to reflect on three main issues: loved ones’ encounters with the prison system and its logic; the numerous consequences on their lives; and how they deal with and adapt to these challenges.
